An operating room the Division of Veterinary Resources (DVR) uses to operate on animals
Have you ever been curious about what the Office of Research Services (ORS) does to support the NIH community? Have you ever wondered about the services ORS offers and how ORS contributes to the overall NIH mission? These questions can be answered by the ORS Immersion Program. The ORS Immersion Program was developed and implemented in partnership with the NIH Administrative Training Committee and will soon begin its 20th session. The Immersion Program’s goal is to provide NIH employees, more specifically, NIH fellows, interns and administrative staff an opportunity to see behind-the-scene operations, experience firsthand ORS services, and visit most of ORS’s divisions and branches.
The ORS Immersion Program is a four-day session spread over a two-week period to minimize the impact on regular job responsibilities. Each session allows for a maximum of 12 participants that are then broken into two groups. Each group visits the various divisions and branches in 1-3 hour increments. During each visit, participants get a brief overview of the program area and its role in supporting research here at NIH. Participants may also tour the facilities, meet staff members and participate in activities.
