USPS Increases Prices Due to Operating Expenses

On January 26, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) prices increased to reflect an increase in USPS operating expenses.  The following is a synopsis of what you can expect to see when mailing at work and at home:

Domestic Letters and Flats:

  • The First Class stamp (1 oz.) rate ("sticky stamp") for postage remains at $0.55.
  • "Metered Mail" rates for First Class Mail letters (1 oz.), which includes postage from the NIH postage meters, will remain at $0.50.
  • First Class Mail Flats/Large Envelopes (1 oz.) rates will remain at $1.00. Each additional ounce will cost $0.20, a five-cent increase from 2019

Domestic Packages:

  • First Class Package Service increased by an average of 2.2% in 2020.
  • Priority Mail increased by an average of 2.8% in 2020.
  • Priority Mail Express increased by an average of 2.2% in 2020.
