The Division of Scientific Equipment and Instrumentation Services (DSEIS) supports the NIH Scientific community with lab equipment acquisitions and maintenance needs through sales, rental, maintenance, repairs, calibration and custom fabrication services. To accommodate the scientific community’s end of Fiscal Year needs, DSEIS modified its process by extending the deadline from August 21, 2015 to September 14, 2015 and helped to acquire equipment approximately worth a quarter million dollars.

DSEIS is expanding the list of equipment offered through the New Equipment Sales (NES) Program to better support NIH and will soon offer Stirling freezers and Liquid Nitrogen Vario freezers. The criteria for equipment selection includes requests from researchers, energy efficient models when applicable, sales data and other relevant information.

To better meet the scientific needs of the intramural community effectively, DSEIS will also be sending out a survey as a component of its restructuring strategy. We encourage all of you involved in acquisitions and maintenance of lab equipment to participate in this survey. Your feedback is very important to us. The ultimate goal is to meet the scientific equipment needs of the NIH IRP community proficiently and at a competitive cost.
