Take A Hike Day 2026

Get ready to lace up your walking shoes because NIH Take-A-Hike Day is back!

Join colleagues and friends for the 17th Annual NIH Take-A-Hike Day, happening Thursday, June 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the Bethesda Campus. This much-anticipated event is a great way to step away from your desk, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with the NIH community all while supporting your health and well-being.

The festivities begin at 11:30 a.m. at Building 1, with the main run/walk kicking off at 12:00 p.m. and ending at the Building 31-33 courtyard at 1:30 p.m. Participants can enjoy a relaxed, non-competitive route around campus, making it perfect for all fitness levels. Additional routes are available at off-site locations, and we encourage you to join from wherever it’s most convenient.

Rain or shine, the event will go on so come prepared and bring your enthusiasm! Remember, this is not a timed race or competition. The goal is simple: get moving, have fun, and enjoy time with your NIH community. Everyone who participates is a winner.

Mark your calendar and don’t miss this energizing NIH tradition. We’ll see you at Building 1! Visit the Take A Hike Day webpage to register for the event.
