Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Are You Prepared

Woman performing CPR

The Division of Occupational Health and Safety (DOHS) has collaborated with the NIH Clinical Center Nursing Department to incorporate Basic Life Safety (BLS) and Lay Responder CPR/AED class registrations into their Course Registration System. This initiative enhances the user experience and optimizes technology investment to improve efficiency.

By utilizing this cost-free training, employees can dramatically improve the survival rate for sudden cardiac arrest.  CPR/AED training prepares participants to respond to a medical emergency; and the combination of instructor and hands-on training assures maximum skills retention.

Participants learn how to:

  • Take action in a medical emergency
  • Assess the victim
  • Provide basic life support, including airway management, breathing and circulation
  • Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
