The NIH Library is now able to provide remote access to several software applications which previously required customers to be onsite in the Library's reading room. The software now available to teleworking staff include a range of bioinformatics and data science applications that run on the Library's four high-performance workstations. Multi-media and 3D modeling applications are also offered as part of the Technology Hub. For information about the specific applications and hardware, see:

To use one of these applications, customers need to make a reservation via the Library's website, just as if they were making an onsite reservation. Customers receive instructions for accessing the workspace along with a reservation confirmation. The instructions also include guidance for sending files to and from the workspaces, as the remote access solution is not intended for large data transfers. To ensure NIH Library staff are available to facilitate and support the online access, 48 hours advance notice is requested.
The NIH Library has continued to provide most of its services while its physical space in Building 10 remains closed. See https://www.nihlibrary.nih.gov/about-us/news/online-services-training-and-resources for more information, including contact information for the NIH Library staff who cannot wait to assist you with your research needs.
