The ORS held their third annual “Celebrate ORS” Town Hall on May 9. Following this year’s theme, “Making a Difference,” the forum provided an opportunity to recognize staff for their exceptional contributions to the NIH over the past year. ORS is guided by a mission of providing “responsive and dependable support to the NIH research mission by planning, directing and delivering scientific and regulatory activities, public safety, security, and services to enrich the NIH community.” As part of this mission and the ORS Strategic Plan, employees focus on four core values — customer focus, collaboration, excellence and integrity. Awards were presented to employees by Acting ORS Director Timothy Tosten in each of these areas. The People’s Choice Award, voted on by employees, was presented to the colleague who best embodies all four values. The ORS Advisory Committee (ORSAC), comprised of IC and OD leadership to advise the ORS Director on service delivery and budget development and prioritization, also presented their annual recognition award.
The event included a presentation titled “Your Work Matters” by internationally recognized author, speaker and corporate trainer, Jones Loflin, President of Helping Others Prepare for Excellence. Employees were also recognized for their Federal Government length of service, including two recipients reaching the 40-year milestone.
