In recognition of his dedication to customer service, Mr. Gedlu Melke, a contractor employed under the Parking Services Contract managed by the Division of Amenities and Transportation Services (DATS), was awarded the Jesse Ferguson Customer Service Award during the Clinical Center Director’s Awards Ceremony on December 18, 2015.
Mr. Melke, who is assigned to the Clinical Center (CC) Hospitality and Parking Team, has spent over 15 years providing valuable parking assistance at the CC, which includes validating patient and patient visitor parking tickets. Ms. Louise Davis, DATS Program Manager for the Parking Services Contract, attended the award ceremony to share her appreciation of Mr. Melke’s efforts and accomplishments. Ms. Davis was not surprised he received this prestigious award due to his exceptional customer service skills, making him instrumental to the CC hospitality programs. Ms. Davis also noted that DATS works to ensure all contractors deliver their services in line with the ORS Core Values – focusing specifically on customer focus, excellence, integrity and collaboration.
Denise Ford, Director of Patients and Guest Relations, CC, nominated Ms. Melke for the Jesse Ferguson Customer Service Award. As noted in her nomination, “Gedlu stands out because he continually goes the extra mile for any patient or visitor that needs assistance beyond parking validation. He shares the CC commitment to partnership and excellence in customer service, so if a hospitality employee has to step away from the desk or is busy with a patient or visitor, Gedlu steps in and offers assistance to customers in the same manner that our hospitality staff does. He is clearly an extension of our customer service commitment in the Clinical Center.”
