NIMH-May-History-Walk

On May 13, 2026, the NIMH Intramural Employee Advisory Committee (IRP EAC) organized a spring wellness walk in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month. This engaging 45-minute event offered participants an opportunity to explore the NIH's rich heritage, guided by Ms. Devon Valera, who serves as Collections Manager and Curator at the Office of NIH History and the NIH Stetten Museum. The walk, open to all members of the NIH community, began at Building 1 and followed a thoughtfully curated route to Building 15K, concentrating on the origins of the NIH dating back to the 1880s. The NIMH IRP EAC has a tradition of hosting wellness walks during both spring and fall, and has featured Ms. Valera as well as the former and current NIH landscape architects from Bethesda's main campus, further enriching the experience for attendees.
