NIH Staff Amenities Update

Conference Room and Auditorium Space Updates

Events Management Branch (EMB) has been extremely busy upgrading and modifying a lot of our conference rooms, classrooms and auditorium spaces. One of the major projects has been the upgrades to Masur Auditorium. Over the past 12 months, we upgraded the lighting system, improve the audiovisual equipment, and installed assisted listening devices for the hearing impaired.

The next major upgrade EMB is performing is the stage renovation to make the space more handicap accessible. To accomplish this, we will remove approximately 15 seats and add a new platform for wheelchair accessible seating with level access to the apron stage. We will also be adding a new Green Room and two new restrooms that are handicap accessible. The project is expected to start November 2021 and should be completed by late spring 2022. Once the renovation in Masur Auditorium is complete it will not only have the latest audio visual and broadcast equipment, but also be much more comfortable and accommodating for handicap personnel.

It's Holiday Time - Think About Fitness for You

It's that time again where our thoughts go to holidays, family and food. There will be time off taken for fun-filled holiday celebrations with friends and loved ones. During this time, it is expected that the average individual will gain at least one pound during the holidays. While this doesn't seem like much, it adds up year after year (BeWellStandford, 2021).

If you are looking for a way to maintain healthy physical activity during the holidays, check out the free virtual "Fitness for You" classes. The fitness classes, run by the R&W Fitness and Wellbeing Program, cover a wide range of classes from gentle Yoga to High-Intensity Impact Training (HIIT). We offer classes live and on-demand so you can take the class when it is convenient to you. We keep as many as 60 classes available for viewing to offer that variety you are looking for. This year we have had over 15,000 class views!

So, enjoy the holiday season, but be sure to find a co-worker and check out the "Fitness for You" classes.

Note: You need not be a member of Facebook to participate in these classes.
