NIH Library Hosts International Fellows

On May 3, the NIH Library hosted five international health sciences librarians from around the world: Khutsafalo Kadimo, Botswana; Kubra Zayim Gedik, Turkey; Mercy Wamunyima Monde, Zambia; Anar Kairatovna Dautova, Kazakhstan; and Suyoung Cho, Korea. The NIH Library tour was provided in support of the Medical Library Association (MLA) Cunningham Memorial International Fellowship program, which was established in 1967 to assist in the education and training of health science librarians from countries outside the United States and Canada.

The tour provided the Fellows with an opportunity to learn about the wide array of services, resources and programs available from the NIH Library. While at NIH, the international guests also had a chance to network and share information and experiences with their NIH Library colleagues.

The NIH Library tour concluded with a photo shoot and lunch, during which the Fellows shared treats from their own countries, including Turkish Delight, chocolate from Kazakhstan and Korean red ginseng candy. Several NIH Library staff and the Cunningham Fellows are already looking forward to meeting up when attending the annual MLA Conference in Detroit, May 16-19.
