After a short hiatus, Federal Prescription Drug Take Back Day returned. NIH Drug Take Back Day occurred on Wednesday, April 27. NIH had three drop-off stations in Rockville, Bethesda and Baltimore and accumulated approximately 369 pounds of expired and unused medications, coming in second place to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for all federal agencies in the Washington DC area by only 8 pounds.

The Federal Prescription Drug Take Back typically occurs twice a year, in the spring and fall, and is hosted in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). If you missed the spring event, the NIH plans to participate in the fall 2016 event.
