Meeting the Equipment Needs of NIH Intramural Research

The Division of Scientific Equipment and Instrumentation Services (DSEIS) is now offering the Stirling Ultracold SU780 freezer through its sales/rental program. This freezer model comes with power cords for both 115V and 230V outlets. In addition, the Thermo Scientific TSX freezer for 115V connections is available through DSEIS and the TSX for 230 V was available since last year.

Both freezers have energy efficiency ratings in the top 10 percent of commercially available models. A list of energy efficient ULT freezers is posted by the NIH Office of Research Facilities, Division of Environmental Protection on the NIH Environmental Management System (NEMS) website.

Although DSEIS already carried several other ULT freezer models on the energy efficient list, “many of the NIH research labs requested these specific models, so we negotiated pricing with the manufacturers,” explains Anju Vergheese, Chief of the Scientific Equipment Rental & Sales Branch.

DSEIS is ready, willing and able to meet the equipment needs of the NIH intramural research community. “If specific lab equipment is not on our current product list, DSEIS can always work with researchers to procure equipment via the DSEIS rent-to-buy program,” adds Vergheese.
