Many members of our NIH community are quietly balancing another important role outside of work — caring for aging parents, spouses, relatives, friends or loved ones with complex medical or daily living needs. As advances in medicine help people live longer lives, families are increasingly navigating caregiving responsibilities that can be emotionally, physically and financially demanding.
Caregiving can bring moments of meaning and connection, but it can also feel overwhelming and isolating. Often, caregivers carry these responsibilities silently while continuing to meet the demands of work and everyday life.
To help foster support and connection, the Aging and Adult-Dependent Care Committee (AADCC), Employee Assistance Program and Child and Family Programs are pleased to reintroduce the Caregiving Peer Circles — a welcoming space where NIH employees can come together to share experiences, exchange resources, offer encouragement and simply know they are not alone.
Starting June 11, 2026, the Caregiving Peer Circles will be held on the second Thursday of every month starting at 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM. Click on the link to join the session and be sure to paste this event in your calendar:
The Peer Circles are facilitated by a licensed clinical social worker. Please note these are not therapy sessions. For individual support, contact the NIH Employee Assistance Program at 301-496-3164.
No one should have to navigate caregiving alone. Through shared experiences, compassionate conversation and community support, the Caregiving Peer Circles aim to remind employees that help, understanding, and connection is available. Whether you are new to caregiving or have been supporting a loved one for years, we invite you to join us as we learn from one another and strengthen our caregiving community together.
