International Services Digital Enhancements

The Division of International Services (DIS) has been working to enhance our digital services and platforms for the past four years. We have made outstanding progress on several long-term initiatives and are excited to share the updates with you:

1.      DIS has expanded our advising services to include in-person advising appointments that are scheduled online. Appointments are scheduled one-on-one with a DIS Immigration Specialist for case-specific questions or questions that may take more than 15 minutes to address. We continue to offer virtual appointments as well as Zoom drop-in advising. Visit the DIS website for a comprehensive list of our advising services.

2.      Visiting Program scientists are now able to use the DIS Customer Portal to access and securely download documents issued by DIS. This includes forms DS-2019, I-797 receipt and approval notices, DIS-issued invitation letters, and other important documents.

3.      The DIS Customer Portal is expanding its functionality. For example, we recently added new case types in the Portal and are working towards using it as the primary means of submitting case packages and documents to DIS. More updates will be announced in the coming months.

4.      DIS is working with NIH Enterprise Directory Team (NED) and Center for Information Technology (CIT) to implement a new interface between DIS's internal system, nVISTAS, and NED. The purpose of this collaboration is to ensure that key data in nVISTAS automatically updates in NED. This will allow it to be reflected in both systems and eliminate data errors.
