Innovative Food Automation Comes to the Clinical Center

In an ongoing effort to provide innovative fresh food solutions in the Clinical Center, Eurest, in cooperation with the Division of Amenities and Transportation Services, has introduced "Sally the Robot" to the CRC atrium. Sally is a freestanding robot that prepares fresh meals in under 60 seconds at the customer's request. With up to 1,000 ingredient combinations, Sally composes delicious snacks and salads at the touch of a button. It allows customers to choose ingredients based on their desires and provides complete nutritional information on their selections.

As always, food safety is important when preparing meals and Sally answers that call by sealing ingredients in tamper-proof containers and carefully monitoring temperatures. Should the temperatures rise above safe levels, Sally automatically locks herself down and notifies the food service contractor via email immediately to take the appropriate action.

Sally is currently featuring a classic salad menu. Customers will be able to provide feedback and input into future menu changes. Sally is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This greatly expands the selection of healthy, fresh foods available to staff and families during the overnight and weekend hours. Please stop by and see her the next time you are in the CRC Atrium!

New Food Concept Begins at the 10 B-1 Cafeteria

Eurest has also introduced a new, authentic Asian food concept to the 10 B-1 cafeteria. "Bok Choy" replaces the "Chef Jet" concept located next to the deli. Bok Choy allows patrons to customize their entrées by choosing their proteins, rice or noodles and toppings. Protein and menu offerings rotate weekly and may include beef, pork, tofu or shrimp. A customer then watches as a chef tosses their selections in a wok and is served a fresh, hot entrée.
