Importance of Cooperating with Investigators and How to Verify their Identity

As part of any T2, T3, T4 or T5 background investigation, there is a possibility of getting contacted by a Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA)  investigator. It is important to emphasize that staff must still cooperate with the requests, even if they may have already received their badge.

Public Trust and National Security investigations may require staff to meet with an investigator to clarify any questions that may come up during the investigative process.

Concerned about the call being legitimate? Verify the investigator.

DCSA special agents and contract investigators carry credentials identifying them as representatives of DCSA. They will present their credentials upon introduction. Further questions related to an agent's/investigator's identity or status should be directed to DCSA Security: dcsa.boyers.bi.mbx.investigator-verifications@mail.mil.

Investigator Verification Hotline: 724-794-7186

Your calls and emails will be answered between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET, Monday-Friday. At all other times you can leave a message, which will be answered on the next business day.
