I Am ORS Spring 2024

India Taylor

India Taylor is originally from Washington, DC and serves as the Production Lead for the Medical Arts Branch. In this role she supports the production work that comes to Medical Arts such as Town Hall visuals, Length of Service Awards, campus signage, supporting VIP events and banners. She's also the Acting  Creative Director for the branch. As a second-generation NIH employee, she first began her journey with the NIH while interning in college.

Her favorite project has been designing the Division of Amenities and Transportation Services (DATS) mural at the Rockledge location inside one of the gyms. Her favorite aspect of ORS is the commitment it has to the NIH community.

“ORS plays a pretty big role in how NIH operates daily."

If she could list the proudest moment of her career, it would be when she was a participant of the Gratitude Tour with Dr. Collins. During this tour, Dr. Collins shared his expressive gratitude to many key people who helped ORS maintain its purpose driven impact during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She also does a lot of the framing for the Division of Police and was awarded with her own honorary Division of Police badge as a thank you for her work. She loves music and fitness and would likely become a boxer if she were to choose a different career path. She's a pianist and really enjoys old school music as well as contributions from artists like Jill Scott.

Her motivation comes from the support she receives from her peers.

“I enjoy being a part of the NIH mission.  And contributing to that, we do very purposeful work."

Teresa Fisher

Teresa Fisher is from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area and works in the Division of Radiation Safety as a Health Physicist and Clinical Protocol Administrator. In this role she ensures safety compliance with radiation regulations where she focuses on clinical applications of radiation.

“As far as clinical applications of radiation, most of its kind of what you think of as far as X-Rays, so like a dental X-Ray, chest X-Ray, nuclear medicine studies where they're studying the function of your heart, and then cancer treatments."

One of her favorite activities on campus is “Take Your Child to Work Day".  She always enjoys seeing the excitement of youth participating in activities that have been orchestrated by her division. Her team will set up a table and let the kids play with radiation meters and gadgets as well as hosting additional classroom activities that help to get kids excited about STEM.

She has two rescue dogs and enjoys cooking. She's also celebrating the milestone of being cancer free for one year.

“The whole process, the early diagnosis, surgery, treatment; it really emphasized the importance of what we do at NIH. That whole process was smooth and effective because of biomedical research. And biomedical research here goes smoothly because of what ORS does as far as providing services.

What makes her the proudest about her work is that people can come to her for help and trust that they are in good hands. She's motivated by the idea of leaving the world better than the way she found it.

“Go into the world and do well, but more importantly go into the world and do good!"

In his role he assists the Clinical Center with fire prevention and safety.  He first learned about NIH through a friend and would later begin his NIH journey as an Inspector.

His favorite project was working with President Obama's NIH visit as a part of the security detail.

“During that time, we were embedded with the Secret Service agency. And assisted them with pulling the entire visit off when he first came into the campus. “

He also spent five and a half years working in Las Vegas on the strip as a paramedic. His proudest career moment would be completing Fire, Arson, & Explosion School and eventually serving as the lead Fire Investor with the Division of the Fire Marshal. He's motivated by the importance of his role when it comes to ensuring the safety of others. He's so motivated that he has also been a volunteer firefighter in Howard County for the last 27 years.

“I've seen the devastation that fire brings, and my goal is to prevent it."

He enjoys fishing, kayaking and boating. He also enjoys the work of Jimmy Buffett and watching The Wire.
