Serving the NIH Community

Because of a lapse in government funding, the information on this website may not be up to date, transactions submitted via the website may not be processed, and the agency may not be able to respond to inquiries until appropriations are enacted. The NIH Clinical Center (the research hospital of NIH) is open. For more details about its operating status, please visit cc.nih.gov. Updates regarding government operating status and resumption of normal operations can be found at opm.gov.

Locate Your Automatic External Defibrillator

The Division of Occupational Health and Safety Community Health Branch (DOHS/CHB) is responsible for providing and maintaining 364 strategically placed Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) throughout NIH facilities (on-and-off campus), as well as those NIH satellite facilities where NIH staff and NIH contractor staff occupy office space(s). AEDs are provided in an area near you for emergency use by trained personnel to aid in the emergency response time of those who maybe experiencing sudden heart-irregularities and cardiac arrest or symptoms.

AED training is part of the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training provided by DOHS/CHB through our own American Heart Association Training Center. Classes offered for the NIH workforce are Lay Responder CPR/AED (general staff) and Basic Life Support (clinicians and PHS officers). Register for AED training and find AED locations.
