ORS Discontinues Mechanical Instrumentation Design and Fabrication Services Beginning October 1

The Mechanical Instrumentation Design and Fabrication Branch, part of the Division of Scientific Equipment and Instrumentation Services (DSEIS) has supported the NIH community for over 35 years, providing custom instrumentation, equipment design, fabrication and modification services to the Intramural Research Program.

Although the Design and Fabrication Branch services provided to the NIH community are exceptional, changes in research have decreased demand leading to insufficient revenue to cover the cost of the program, particularly in the area of custom fabrication and instrumentation. Therefore, effective October 1, 2017, DSEIS will no longer provide mechanical instrumentation design and fabrication services to the NIH community.

The Design and Fabrication Branch will continue to work with all current and new customers on projects which can be completed by the end of the fiscal year 2017. We will also work with current and past customers to find additional sources for the important work that still needs to be done in this area. We thank you all for your support of DSEIS design and fabrication services over the years and are happy to have played a part of your research journey.

DSEIS continues to provide excellent and cost-effective equipment sales, rental, maintenance and repair.
