DIS Pilots Training Program for Administrators

The Division of International Services (DIS) is piloting a new initiative in August on the NIH main campus for administrators, who are new to DIS case processing and working with foreign nationals.

The Visiting Program (VP) Administrative Training Module is a half-day, three-part presentation that will focus on comprehensive case preparation and submission, with a focus on NIH policy and immigration regulations, an experiential journey through the U.S. immigration system, and strategies for effective cross-cultural communication. After opening registration through their listserv last week, DIS already reached its maximum number of registered participants.

Through hands-on, experiential learning, participants will receive the knowledge, resources and skills to effectively work with DIS to assist foreign national scientists. The new training will be a compliment to the annual DIS conference and other trainings offered throughout the year. DIS hopes to offer the training module again in the future.
