Serving the NIH Community

Because of a lapse in government funding, the information on this website may not be up to date, transactions submitted via the website may not be processed, and the agency may not be able to respond to inquiries until appropriations are enacted. The NIH Clinical Center (the research hospital of NIH) is open. For more details about its operating status, please visit cc.nih.gov. Updates regarding government operating status and resumption of normal operations can be found at opm.gov.

Contacting the Mail Customer Service Branch (MCSB)

There are two common instances where an NIH employee or contractor may wish to contact the Division of Mail Management Services (DMMS) but may prefer to do so in writing, on a fill-in-the-blanks form, rather than over the phone. The first is when the employee or contractor has a non-urgent question, comment, suggestion, or other issue and is unsure of which information is needed. The second is when an employee or contractor is relocating within NIH. DMMS has a separate, dedicated contact page for each instance, asking pertinent questions to accurately direct your communication.

1. When you have a non-urgent question, comment, suggestion, or other issue involving mail service, contact DMMS directly online at www.ors.od.nih.gov/pes/dmms/Pages/Contact-Us. They will respond as quickly as possible, and always by the next business day.

2. It is not uncommon for an NIH employee or contractor to change jobs and/or locations within NIH. When the need to inform DMMS about your new location arises, let DMMS know directly through their website (www.ors.od.nih.gov/pes/dmms/services/Pages/Change-of-NIH-Mailing-Address) so that your mail will be forwarded to you starting the next business day.

As always, DMMS continues to welcome all communications through their Mail Customer Service Branch (MCSB) mailbox at mcsbcs@mail.nih.gov and at their telephone helpline at (301) 496-3586.
