On Friday, September 22, the NIH will celebrate Car Free Day with the Washington Metropolitan Council of Governments (WMCOG). Car Free Day is an international event that encourages people to get around without using their car, highlighting bicycling, mass-transit, walking, and alternative modes of transportation. Carpooling, vanpooling and telework also count!
The Division of Amenities and Transportation Services (DATS), challenges you to find alternative ways to get to work and pledge to go ‘car free’ on September 22. Have you considered taking Metro or a commuter bus? What about talking to your colleagues about starting a carpool or vanpool? Car Free Day is the perfect time to explore your commuting options and try out a new one!
Take the pledge and register with the WMCOG at: http://carfreemetrodc.org. By taking the pledge, you will help show NIH leads by example when it comes to health by walking, bicycling, and using modes of transportation that are healthy and good for the environment.
