NIH Library Receives MLA Research Advancement in Health Sciences Librarianship Award

Librarians are the guardians of knowledge, our faithful partners in research at every level. I admire our own NIH Library colleagues for their commitment to democratizing information, facilitating the cutting-edge research that takes place on our campus. I want to recognize our colleagues for the incredible strides they've made on this effort in recent years.

Information gathering has evolved at a breakneck pace these last few years, and our Division of Library Services team have risen to meet that challenge. This past February, the NIH Library was recognized by the Medical Library Association (MLA) with the 2024 Research Advancement in Health Sciences Librarianship Award. In the award letter, MLA President Amy Blevens mentioned NIH Library's “outstanding contributions to the field of health librarianship." I couldn't agree more.

To learn more about the exemplary work of our NIH Library colleagues that earned them this high honor, I encourage you to watch this short video.

We need librarians now more than ever, and I am grateful to our NIH Library colleagues for all they do to make good research happen across NIH. Congratulations to Nancy Muir and team on this prestigious accolade. Our community is better off because of your resilience and dedication to the NIH mission.
