NIH has kicked off its annual food drive to fight hunger, "Feds Feed Families."
After collecting a record 90,000 pounds of food donations in 2017, NIH is ready to again make a difference for individuals and families in our local communities. NIH has set a goal of collecting 32,000 pounds this year, and all donations will go to the Capital Area Food Bank, the Children's Inn and the Safra Family Lodge.
The food drive began Monday, August 6 and will run through October 5.
The 2018 Feds Feed Families (FFF) campaign is led by ORS Acting Director Tim Tosten. He serves as the NIH's campaign chairperson, and management analyst Courtney Bell is the program coordinator. Office of Acquisition and Logistics Management, Division of Logistic Services and Division of Scientific Equipment and Instrumentation Services staff volunteer their time to collect the donations across nearly 50 donation sites.
There are several ways you can participate in the FFF campaign. You can donate non-perishable food items at any of the on- or off-campus drop box locations. Beginning August 13, you can buy vouchers in any of the following NIH Eurest cafeterias or cafes:
- Building 1 Café
- Building 10 Starbucks
- Building 10 ACRF (2nd Floor)
- Building 10 (B1 level)
- Building 31
- Building 35A
- Building 45
Proceeds from the vouchers will be used to purchase non-perishable food donations for the food drive.
Additionally, staff may donate online by purchasing goods through the Capital Area Food Bank's You Give Goods or Amazon Wishlist links. To ensure that NIH receives credit for your donation, please send donation confirmation receipts (preferably with donation weight information) to FedsFeedFamiliesNIH@mail.nih.gov.
